Prepare the materials

Making an airplane craft is no longer hard. Running by Mr. Pisit Mitkuakul, the Radio Control Modeler Sport Association or R.C.S.A. has a will to share this knowledge to everyone who would like to learn.

We hope to share the best we have got for you to make the most perfect airplane craft ever.

There are many types of airplane model. In the market (in Thailand), the price of only a model (excluded the remote control) might be up to 5000 baht (about $156). Moreover, most of them are imported from other country. In simple words, that is not so good for the economy.

We have a wish for Thai children to play modern things without buying them from other country. By using materials and equipments within our country, we all can save the money. And if anyone can craft it beautifully, we are willing to support.

Airplane model

First of all is to prepare the materials and tools.

These are the tools that we need.

1. Foam cutter – Make foam cutter from the lath with a width of 1 inch connected in a C-shape with heating wire or nicrom (that is used in electric stove). Then, connect the cord with 2 pole and use direct current (DC) 6-12 volt.
**In fact, the foam cutter is imported and is sold about 10,000 baht (about $312). However, we can make it by ourselves with the cost lower than 100 baht (about $3).

2. Foam cutter for the body – Use the same method and materials as the previous one, but make it smaller.

3. Pattern for a wing (wood) – It needs to have a curve so it can flies.

4. Two Pattern for a body (wood)

Make a pattern with a size below

5. Pattern for degree of a wing (wood) – Wing from 2 sides will be in V-shape and it needs to make an angle of 3-5 degrees.

6. Direct current transformer (6-9 volts)

7. Soldering iron – Needed for make a rectangle on a body

8. Wood stick

9. 2-3 plastic bands

10. No-thinner glue

11. Tape or sticker

12. Foam with a 2-inch, ¾-inch, and 5-mm thickness

Next time, we will start the first step…. Thank you
